EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW:
ALI LARTER PREVIEWS 'RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE'

Interview by Michael J. Lee, Executive Editor for RadioFree.com
April 3, 2010

While covering the 2010 WonderCon in San Francisco, we had the opportunity to speak to Ali Larter, who offered a glimpse of what fans can expect from the fourth installment of the Resident Evil film series...

RadioFree.com: As a seasoned veteran of the franchise returning for her second outing, what sort of higher-stakes ass-kicking can we expect from you in this installment?

ALI: I have an amazing sequence with the Axe Man. And [fans of] the video game really love this Axe Man. So Claire and the Axe Man go head to head in Afterlife, and it's just this amazing sequence--it took days and days and days to shoot. So that's pretty cool. And it was just a great experience coming back and working with Milla again, working with Paul. And I love to do my own stunts. It's something that I really enjoy. I love the athletic nature that comes with these movies. You know, I was such a tomboy when I was younger, when I was a little girl, so it's like that brawler is still very alive!

Resident Evil: Extinction and Afterlife are rare in that they have two equally strong female leads sharing the screentime...

Isn't that wonderful?

Absolutely! What are your thoughts on that chemistry and dynamic between you and Milla?

It's just so cool. You see that with guys all the time, but to be able to have two female leads in this movie who both kick ass, that aren't fighting with each other, they work together...There's something really great about that. And I think that that's why so many women respond to the Resident Evil franchise--you know, it celebrates the power of women instead of putting them to the side to be the wife, or the one that has to be taken care of. "No, boys...We'll take care of you!" [laughs]

And how would you describe the dynamic between Claire and Alice?

You know, Claire's the human element in this movie. She's the Everyman. When you think about the mythology of it, Alice has these powers, and Claire's the one that you can just access. If you're watching this movie, you can put yourself in her shoes.

Beyond the obvious like family and friends, what would you miss if you were living in a zombie apocalypse world?

Steak frites! [laughs]

Thanks for your time.

Thank you.
