RadioFree.com: I guess a bit of congratulations are in order. You recently won our 2004 Radio Free Movie Award for Best Kiss for Eurotrip, as voted by the fans.
MICHELLE: Oh! [laughs] Thank you! Little brother/sister kiss, huh?
Can't go wrong with that, right?
Yeah. [laughs]
So what's it like winning an award that's sooooo prestigious that you actually know nothing about it?
No, that's really cool! My boyfriend [Shawn Ashmore] and I, when we first started dating, our first public outing was at the MTV Movie Awards where he was nominated for Best Kiss with Anna Paquin for X-Men.
He was nominated in our awards, too.
Oh, was he? Did I beat him?
I think his was for the year before. But check that out, you guys are just swiping all the nominations up for that category.
That's pretty cool. The Eurotrip kiss was funny because screen kisses aren't supposed to have tongue, and the directors had to bribe me a lot to use the tongue. They're like, "It'll be funny." I'm like, [exaggerated disgust] "That's gross!"
Did you have to do anything to psyche yourself out for the scene?
I think I was envisioning Joaquin Phoenix and Johnny Depp.
You didn't have to hit the bottle and get a little drunk like Neve Campbell in Wild Things?
No, there was none of that. But I did imagine I was making out with Johnny Depp. Not that I would kiss Johnny Depp like that, but...[laughs] It was all for comedic purposes, but there was like 500 extras watching us, and they were all like, "What's she doing?"
Do you know if your scene has inspired many parodies like Sarah Michelle Gellar's kiss in Cruel Intentions?
[laughs] I'm sure somewhere, somehow. I don't know, though, I don't really pay too much attention to all that. But I'll just be walking down the street and some guy's hanging out his convertible, [heavy "California surfer" accent] "Dude! You kissed your brother!"
[laughs] And then you politely explain, "it's all just pretend..."
Yeah, exactly. "It's not really my brother!"
