TOTO, a high-end manufacturer of sinks, faucets, and showers, is doing its best to catapult bathroom technology into a new era with its Neorest, a toilet absolutely loaded with extravagant features.
Sleek and aesthetically pleasing, the Neorest experience begins when the lid automatically opens upon approach. The toilet's Washlet seat (which is also available separately for installation on one's current bowl) is a bidet-like sanitation system that washes the user "front and back" with warm water in one of three oscillating, pulsating modes, then dries with a steady stream of warm air. The temperature of the water, the air, and even the seat are all adjustable for maximum comfort via a wireless remote that controls all of the Neorest's functions. The remote for the Neorest 600, in particular, is a stylish, streamlined silver bar that looks like it was made for an entertainment center.
When finished, the Neorest automatically flushes (using 1.2 gallons of water) and closes the lid to maximize the hand-free experience. The wash nozzle rids itself of bacterial contamination with a self-cleaning process initiated both before and after each use. Also maintaining the hygienic environment is a SanaGloss glaze that gives the toilet a lustrous finish and promotes cleanliness.
While a full description of the Neorest often elicits giggles for its decadence and rather intimate functions, there is no denying that it's a cool gadget, and a very interesting evolution of that most essential yet underappreciated of plumbing fixtures.
